Fellowship
What
can we say? We have to have some fun and hang out with our friends!

An
energetic group of 85+, 7th to 12th grade students, who come together
weekly for rehearsal and fellowship. No music experience necessary! No
auditions required! Just a desire to spread God's word to others
through music! Through singing word about God's love and grace,
weekly devotion and prayer time, and participating in morning worship
the students will journey. Through the performances, rehearsals and
group experiences students build friendship that can last a
lifetime all the while teaching them to be servant leaders. We are very
fortunate to have a very active student leadership team led by our
seniors to plan, implement and provide support to each other.
This group draws students form 17 different middle and high schools
public and private in the Atlanta metro area. Such diversity has only
made this group stronger over the years.
God's Light sings a variety of styles of music such as, Praise and
Worship, Contemporary Christian, Hymns and Traditional. They say
variety is the spice of life, just as we all are different so is
each students musical taste. God's Light serves as an
opportunity to expose students to the many styles of music used in
church too.
There are several opportunities for this group to share their music and
message. Each month this group serves for our 8:45, 9 and 11 am worship
service on the 3rd Sunday (except December and January due to school
holidays). In addition to singing in worship weekly God's Light
prepares a Christmas offering to kick off the advent season the 1st
Sunday in December, and in June a homecoming concert as they return
from their summer tour.
Each summer this group has the opportunity to take a 9-10 day choir
tour throughout the United States to churches, nursing homes, other
facilities and national parks. They have traveled to as far north
as Niagara Falls, Canada (singing at the falls), as far west as the
Grand Canyon (singing on the rim), throughout the eastern,
central and mid-west United states. They have sung at both the Air
Force and Naval Academies morning worship services and this year sang
at the amphitheater at Mount Rushmore.
In addition to singing throughout the United States, locally in
Georgia, God’s Light has in the past sung for the North Georgia Annual
Conference ,the National Evangelism conference, Salem Camp meeting and
Faith United Methodist in Smyrna. This past June marked God's Light,
6th appearance at the Atlanta BRAVES, to sing the National Anthem.
This group provides several service oriented fundraisers throughout the
year to earn the monies needed to pay for the transportation costs of
choir tour. These fundraisers are organized and led by the parents and
students. Some of the fundraisers are monthly luncheons, Dessert
Theaters, Love Makes the World Go Round / Silent Auction and dinner
theater, Ladies Tea and Car Show. Each event is designed not only to
raise money for the group (parent and students) to create community and
a sense of ownership working for the monies needed.( the parents and
student have fun working and many time alumni will come back to help).
God's
Light is a group where all are welcomed. Come “sing” what it is about
