Smyrna First UMC is proud to have the largest Fine Arts Ministries in our area. Note that we called it a Ministry, not a program. At Smyrna First, we believe Music and Fine Arts are an act of Worship and we are excited to be able to offer opportunities for all ages and skill levels! Whether you jump in with both feet to a group or enjoy the many offerings of our choirs, instrumental or drama groups, we know you will be blessed by this ministry.

Children's Music Ministries

One of the greatest gifts we can give to our children is to teach them God’s love and grace through music. We encourage your child to be a part of our friendly and exciting children’s choirs. Everyone has the ability to sing and we strive to nurture each child that joins our choirs.

Youth Music Ministry

God’s Light is a premier choir of Smyrna First UMC. Consisting of 85+ students, from 7th-12th grade and over 15 different schools, this group of students provides an opportunity for community and spiritual growth.

Smyrna First is proud to offer musical opportunities for adults of all ages and skill levels. There is a place for you in our Fine Arts Ministries!

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is the premier Sunday Morning Choir in our Traditional Worship Service. Consisting of men and women, they lead worship with music of all genres. As with all of our vocal groups, no experience or audition is required to join the choir!

New Praise

With a focus on Contemporary Christian Music, this versatile group creates a unique blend of voices and musical styles. NewPraise welcomes vocalists of all skill levels to experience the joy of worshiping God through music.

NewPraise is honored to have been invited to perform at venues including the 1996 Olympic Games, the Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park, and most recently with guest composer, Heather Sorenson, at Carnegie Hall.

Sounding Joy Handbells

This adult group of intermediate to advanced handbell ringers rejoices in continuing to become better musicians through the distinctive art of handbell ringing. Sounding Joy is a favorite at special holiday services and more!

Smyrna Village Players

The Smyrna Village Players (SVP) is a group of talented performers from the community who bring their love of acting, singing and live performance to audiences each year. Audition information for their plays and musicals can be found on their social media accounts and at www.smyrnavillageplayers.com. Performers of all ability levels as well as set designers, stage managers, costuming and makeup artists and more are welcome!

Orchestra

The Smyrna First Orchestra is a collection of talented instrumentalists from 7th grade through adults. This group accompanies our choirs as well as performing in special Worship Services and Events. Musical knowledge and experience in your chosen instrument is needed for this group.
