Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is a compassionate, confidential caregiving ministry that equips trained lay members of our church to walk alongside individuals facing life’s challenges. Through one‑to‑one, Christ‑centered care, Stephen Ministers offer a listening ear, emotional and spiritual support, and a steady presence during difficult seasons such as grief, illness, job loss, or major life transitions. This ministry extends our church’s commitment to love and care for one another, ensuring no one has to navigate hardship alone. Prayer Team
Our prayer team is a devoted group of volunteers who lift up the needs of our church family in daily and weekly prayer, faithfully interceding for every concern shared with us. Requests come through the prayer cards submitted during worship or directly to our staff, and each one is held with care and confidentiality unless you ask for it to be included in our publications. You can share your prayer needs anytime by emailing communications@smyrnafumc.org, knowing this team will cover you in prayerful support.
Caring and Sharing
The stresses of caring for a family member who lives with Alzheimer’s or related dementias are abundant. We understand the reluctance of joining a support group. This is a time to talk with each other provide and provide comfort and support. If you need a safe place to relax and share, you are welcome to join us.
Visiting Friends
The Visiting Friends ministry offers a meaningful way to stay connected with members of our church family who are in assisted living, recovering at home, or otherwise unable to attend services in person.
Delmar Garden Worship
Once a month, a dedicated team of clergy and volunteers from Smyrna First leads an evening worship and Holy Communion service at Delmar Gardens (404 King Springs Village Parkway, Smyrna, GA). This meaningful time of fellowship includes an inspirational message and the sharing of Holy Communion with residents, offering comfort, connection, and the presence of Christ in a warm and welcoming setting.
